Day-wise route, sightseeing and overnight stays
Guwahati → Bomdila
Early morning pickup from Guwahati Airport, Railway Station or your designated location. Begin the scenic drive towards the Himalayan foothills. Travel through Assam's lush tea gardens and reach Bhalukpong, the Arunachal border gate, for mandatory Inner Line Permit (ILP) checks. Depending on time, visit Tippi Orchid Research Centre. Continue to Bomdila and check into the hotel. Approx. 340 km and 8–9 hours drive.
Bomdila → Sela Pass → Jaswant Garh → Nuranang Falls → Tawang
After breakfast, visit Bomdila Monastery before beginning the drive towards Tawang. En route, stop at Sela Pass (13,700 ft) and Sela Lake, followed by Jaswant Garh War Memorial. Continue towards Nuranang Falls (Jang Falls) before arriving in Tawang. Approx. 170 km and 6–7 hours drive.
Tawang Local Sightseeing
Visit the majestic Tawang Monastery (Gaden Namgyal Lhatse), known for its spiritual significance and spectacular valley views. Continue to the Giant Buddha Statue overlooking Tawang. In the afternoon, visit Urgelling Monastery, the birthplace of the 6th Dalai Lama, followed by time at the local Tawang market. In the evening, visit Tawang War Memorial for the light and sound show.
Tawang → Dirang → Bomdila
After breakfast, begin the return journey from Tawang. Take a scenic route through the picturesque Dirang Valley. Visit Dirang Dzong, natural hot water springs and enjoy views of terraced kiwi and apple orchards before continuing towards Bomdila. Approx. 170 km and 6–7 hours drive.
Bomdila → Guwahati
Early breakfast and checkout from the hotel. Descend through the winding mountain roads and re-enter the plains of Assam. Continue towards Guwahati for airport or railway station drop-off in the late afternoon or evening. Approx. 340 km and 8–9 hours drive.
Optional Excursion to Bum La & Madhuri Lake
An optional day trip to Bum La Pass at the Indo-China border and Madhuri / Shonga-tser Lake can be organized subject to availability and advance permission through the local authorities. This excursion requires an additional day.
